On 17 May 2018 the Cabinet Secretary the Ministry of Environment and Forestry hosted the County First Ladies and the CECMs Environment from Taita Taveta, Kajiado, Kiambu, Nakuru and Narok Counties for talks and deliberation on policy framework and how the government body will support the Taka Taka ni Mali Initiative (TTNM).
Through
the County Waste Management and Entrepreneurship Hubs
(CWMEH), TTNM works to address the challenges faced by highly potential
but
disadvantaged women and youth by creation of decent work opportunities,
both as a means of self-employment and as job creation for others.
CWMEH are a symbiosis program where linkages are made between
waste generators, waste users and recyclers, thus creating opportunities
for employment whilst contributing to the reduction of Green House Gas
(GHG) emissions and the related health risks caused by mismanagement
of solid waste.
The
CWMEH aim to maximize the value of all the material resources we
use in our Kenyan economy, helping to create new business opportunities
as well as helping businesses find savings in how they use materials and
manage their waste.
